I just came across Gabbly… Very slick.
It’s a chat application that gathers all the current visitors of the same Web
page. The concept isn’t exactly new, but my hat’s off for technical
execution. It’s very slick and super easy to set up: just tag the
domain name of your destination after
http://gabbly.com (e.g.
http://gabbly.com/testng.org) and you’re in business.
Of course, the real challenge is to make it viral: right
now, only people who use that redirected URL will join the channel. You can
embed the application on you Web page, though, so that’s a start…

Very nice! I suggested they add an IRC bridge. That should also help them get get going.

Impressive piece of code. Looks like the “web site” is not the unique entrance in internet anymore. Does it mean that we need to have a xhttml compliant web site?
What impress me more, is : 1e the asynchroneous architecture; 2e : the client receives messages, no more static web pages. 3e All ajax! (Still I do not think that ajax is the best long term solution, but anyway, it reveals what new web2/xul/new html should be)

It has some problems, if the form it will redirect to orginal link site, you will be out. But it’s good enough and free. 🙂

http://www.peekko.com seems to be related – i like its internals (it uses IRC, which opens up some nice possibilities), but it lacks this nice AJAX interface 🙂

Danliel Glazmna (NVU) just used it for a chat on his blog, and seemed to love it.
